Ashley Kohlrus Named the 2012 CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec

Ashley Kohlrus, chief experience officer at the $965 million Allegacy Federal Credit Union in Winston-Salem, N.C., has been named the 2012 CUES Next Top Credit Union Executive.
The selection of Kohlrus for the award was announced Wednesday at the organization’s CEO/Executive Team Network gathering in Manalapan, Fla., where the finalists presented their projects.
Kohlrus’ project was titled “Mapping the Member Experience” and involved reviewing Allegacy’s delivery channels and identifying where more positive impressions could be made. She said her suggestions could be implemented by credit unions of any size.
Kohlrus will receive a $20,000 educational prize package and will provide further project updates online
“I’m so appreciative of every one of you. You have inspired us because we look to you as our leaders,” she said. “One of my core values is lifetime learning and this will help me continue that.”
The other finalists were Jill Huls of $4.9 billion Conexus Credit Union in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada; Nate Muniz of $3.9 billion Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union in Harrisburg, Pa., USA; Cas Scott of $4 billion Community CPS Australia in Hunter Valley, New South Wales, Australia; and Peter Walker of $770M OSU Federal Credit Union in Corvallis, Ore.
Fred Johnson, CUES president/CEO, said, “It’s obvious from the reaction of attendees at our CEO/Executive Team Network that Ashley Kohlrus and the rest of the finalists give hope to current leaders that the future of the credit union movement is in the capable hands of those who will carry the torch after us.”
