Project Title
Engaging Our Future Leaders
Short Pitch
Unite the Young CU Professionals in the Upstate to further the CU Movement.
Synopsis
My plan to engage our future leaders involves creating an internal group, or committee, within Carolina Foothills FCU for the employees aged 35 and under, to explore professional topics and questions. As this is a committee that I have just recently kicked off, we will be focusing on developing skills in areas such as public speaking, report writing, and leadership. We will also dive into topics around credit union history, politics, and more. My hope for this committee is to bolster the talent of these individuals and win for them, the confidence, perseverance, and increased recognition which will allow them to explore opportunities and find their paths here in the credit union world. I also hope to help bridge the gap between frontline staff and Senior Management and open that dialogue so Carolina Foothills FCU knows no bounds. Additionally, I plan to invite young professionals from the surrounding CUs, whom are members of the Upstate Chapter (CCUL). With those individuals, I will propose to the Upstate Chapter directly, to support and run its own Young Professional/Talent Development group so that we can not only grow individually, but together in the Movement. Credit Unions throughout America operate Young Professional committees, with extensive workshops. conferences, and get-togethers; it is time that South Carolina do the same.
