CU Jedi Knight Academy

In my very first blog for The Next Top Credit Union Contest, I wrote about the Servus Young Leaders Network vision of Creating Credit Union Jedi. Through our existence, the Servus Young Leaders Network Executive Committee has continuously brainstormed on how we could deliver the greatest impact to the largest amount of Servus young leaders at the most efficient cost to Servus Credit Union.

In September, the Servus Young Leaders Network is presenting the 1st Annual 35 Under 35 Leadership Retreat. In other words, we are hosting our very own CU Jedi Knight Academy. For this event, 35 young leaders (CU Padawan) from across the province (Galaxy) will be venturing to Camp Kuriakos (the Degabuh system) to receive tutelage to become CU Jedi Knights.

Over 2 days, attendees will be provided with interactive presentations in the following areas:

• The Credit Union System
• Networking/Social Networking
• Leadership Readiness Assessment
• Internal Leadership Programs

One of the most meaningful aspects of our retreat is that most of the program will be delivered by Servus young leaders. We hope that by delivering informative sessions that improve both credit union understanding and leadership development, these 35 young leaders will become as engaged as we are in the continued success of Servus Credit Union and the credit union system.  

Several of the Servus Credit Union Executive Leadership Team (CU Jedi Grand Masters) will also be in attendance at various points of the retreat to provide their knowledge and insight. Think of it as having Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Mace Windu in the house all at the same time.

For our future CU Jedi Knights, if they take anything away from this experience, I hope that they understand that they are the future of the Force….err. ..I mean, Credit Union.
