Hop on board for a magical journey

I’m so excited and honored to represent the Midwest region in this national contest. All of the other finalists’ ideas are wonderful, so the competition will be stiff. I love the fact that this CUES process will create momentum on a number of initiatives — and will provide them national exposure!

Speaking of momentum, let me tell you about  one of the projects I’m supporting – my new blog called Financial MOMentum. I’ve already begun contemplating a number of topics I think will resonate with moms regarding financial-related topics to help them better manage family budgets, etc.  For instance, I want to help teach moms tips on how to talk to and teach their kids about savings, tips for moms on planning ahead and saving money before a new baby arrives, life insurance discussions, how to save money at the grocery store or eating on a budget, and much more!

The second project I’m supporting is the Women’s Association of Credit Union Leaders (WACUL). I’ve been on the WACUL steering committee to develop the charter for this initiative, and it’s now ready to take flight! I want to ensure I give credit to my credit union CommunityAmerica’s Chief Operating Officer Lisa Ginter, who conceptualized this program with hopes of helping women in credit unions expand their leadership roles.  I’m pleased to report that our first meeting is this Thursday, June 24, and we have more than 25 confirmed participants.  This will be a great opportunity to network with other credit unions employees and will lead to leadership development. While we’re taking a measured approach to WACUL at the start, we believe it will have tremendous impact on a national scale over time!

I sincerely want this process to be interactive with you, and believe it can be! So, let’s start now: What topics for my Financial MOMentum blog would you like to see?

Thanks again for voting for me. We have a magical journey ahead of us, so hop on board and let’s travel it together!
