It’s Almost Time to Give Up the Title
It’s been almost a year since CETNET 2017 in Las Vegas and my journey post CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec competition rages on. The last 11 months have been an adventure with several unexpected turns, but there have also been some exciting accomplishments. Here are a few:
Adoption Loan
We’ve completed over a dozen adoption loans which also means we’ve helped over a dozen children find a forever family. As you would expect, the families utilizing the loan all have a unique and meaningful story that make the loan special.
Over the last year, several media outlets have featured the loan:

CUES CEO Institute
The CUES CEO Institute I at Wharton in Philadelphia was life changing and putting what I’ve learned into practice the last six months has been a blast. I’m in touch with classmates every week and I’m looking forward to CUES CEO Institute II at Cornell this spring with great anticipation.
Mentoring
One of the most transformative leadership experiences of the last year has been the mentoring relationships I’ve developed with some amazing leaders. CUES CEO John Pembroke is a remarkable leader of leaders who always has great advice and guidance. I’ve also had the honor of meeting regularly with First Alliance Credit Union’s Mike Rosek, Royal Credit Union’s Brandon Riechers, DDJ Myers’ Tim Tolliver and Firefly Credit Union’s Marty Kelly. I even got to spend some time with my NTCUE coach Deedee Myers recently. Honorable mention to Provident Credit Union’s Jenn Lee, Credit Union 1’s James Wileman, and Southland Credit Union’s Tom Lent for all of their informal advice and mentorship.
Special thanks
Thanks to Michael Berger, Tim McAlpine and the whole Currency Marketing team for all they do to help young leaders like me. I’ll be watching the NTCUE finals from Tennessee with everyone else this fall excited to see who the next winner will be!
