Pare, Repair and Prepare!
September is National Preparedness Month. I’m sure, like me, my fellow CUES competitors are preparing for the homestretch of this competition. I look forward to seeing everyone in Dallas later this year, but until then, I’m preparing to help parents, whether they need to prepare, pare or repair their budgets for a better financial future! As you’ve seen from my H.A.P.P.Y. philosophy, it all starts with having a plan that you can stick to in order be better positioned to achieve your financial goals.
While many people think of preparedness in terms of hurricanes or winterizing their homes, I’m encouraging them to use this month to get financially prepared via my Financial MOMentum blog! Wondering if there’s a need? According to the Chicago Tribune, about 47 percent of early baby boomers are not expected to have enough money to cover basic living expenses through retirement. It’s eye-opening to see how many people are not financially prepared! But I believe my blog can make a difference in the lives of many by connecting people with good ideas, and building a community dedicated to go beyond coupon clipping by providing proven concepts that can lead to long-term success.
It’s interesting to me because so many things that can destroy a budget are annual events, such as Halloween, Thanksgiving and the upcoming holiday season. All of these are things we have in front of us every year, yet they’re often the very things that create financial issues. Preparedness can be the difference between having green in your credit union account afterwards, and green Grinch-like debt nightmares. Now, every week, I’m adding family-friendly content to my blog, and I’m linking to valuable, relevant content that can help moms succeed, like prepared meals that can make any week less stressful — and less expensive!
So I hope you’ll check out my Financial MOMentum blog for more preparedness and money-saving tips. I also hope you’ll add your own tips, or let me know what topics you’re interested in! My next step for this project—now that I have a fair amount of content—is to begin promoting it so that it can begin to have the reach I’ve envisioned to make a real difference! Are you prepared to help me with that?
