The CUES Emerge Program Develops Influential Leaders
The credit union philosophy of “people helping people” is one of the reasons I loved working for a credit union for over nine years, and why I continue to enjoy working as a consultant and coach with leaders in this incredible community and industry.
When my firm, Envision Excellence, was approached by CUES to offer coaching support for the CU Emerge program, I immediately agreed. Having written a monthly blog for CUES for over seven years, I have always been impressed with the cutting-edge, excellent programs and information that CUES produces. The Emerge program aligned with my passion for helping emerging and mid-level professionals in their leadership journey. I was impressed with the comprehensive nature of the program—virtual classroom courses, mastermind sessions, coaching support, and business case development. This holistic approach to leadership development will have a lasting impact on the professionals who had the opportunity to partake in the experience.
Sandra Long, a senior executive coach on our team, provided a coaching session to each of the five finalists to support them in developing their final business cases that would be presented on the live pitch show. These sessions allowed the participants to receive objective feedback and presentation tips as they fine-tuned their business cases and presentation skills.
Once the top three winners were announced, Sandra and I were excited to conduct professional leadership coaching sessions with each of the finalists. I had the opportunity to work with the winner, Lindsey Walker, for three coaching sessions where we focused on her personal and professional development and success.
One of the most important aspects of a thriving credit union is the leadership of the organization. Leaders make all the difference in creating an environment where employees are productive, empowered, and engaged. The CUES Emerge program is a comprehensive, one-of-a-kind opportunity for credit unions to develop their emerging managers into influential, successful leaders who positively impact their employees, their credit union, and the industry as a whole.
